Thanks, Corntortilla. Those are clearly different from both of the ones I've seen outside the park. It's apparently just that light blue color (or that particular brand of spray paint) that's gotten popular lately.by gophersnake - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
QuoteparkloverValleywide shuttle: This route serves all stops in Yosemite Valley, including lodges, food service, campgrounds, and trailheads. Buses arrive every 12 to 22 minutes from 7 am to 10 pm. I was on that trail a few days ago and saw two instances of blue graffiti (had to turn around early, unfortunately.) I figured they had to be some of the ones in the news story, though the story describes them as "blue and white" and blurs the pictures. Two things about that, though: 1. I'm sure it'll take some getting used to. The consequences of a wrong decision don't seem all that bad -- unless of course someone panics and makes a really wrong decision like a U-turn in a strictly-one-way lane. Thanks, parklover. I did get there last week and I'll add these observations: At the Valley Visitor Center, the restrooms were open but the water fountain by the bookstore was blocked off and wrapped in plastic. A ranger pointed me toward another water fountain, in the direction of the Post Office, which I didn't actually look for. He added that the water in the restrooms was potable too. Granted, things are likely to change in the meantime, but I'm trying to glean some information on what the situation is now and what I might expect then. The stream gage at Pohono Bridge shows the water level just inches from flood stage (the red line at 10 feet) and still heading upward. I was in the area two days ago. I stayed below Vernal Fall, but there were no signs at the trail junctions saying anything about rockfalls or closures. Through 2013 or so, Caltrans was discussing two options for dealing with the slide: the rockshed (now under construction, sort of) versus the (much more expensive) tunnel. Almost every news story about the incident places it "near" or "above" Nevada Fall. The only one I've come across that doesn't get the location wrong, wisely doesn't refer to it at all.
