i moved a year ago out of state, not to mention my world has been turned upside down (health issues etc), so i haven't been on here for some time. i'm pretty much in the dark about now having to have a reservation to even enter the park for even day use... looking at their website just now, it "appears" to me that every single day (except for a few days this month) are all taken upby forrestranger - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. i was there Feb 24, 2019 and the roads were closed off to the campsites. there are NO campsites available (and probably won't be for some time), don't even think about it. i talked to an employee at the 140 entrance booth, and he said there weren't any, i told him i had heard that Hodgon Meadows was open, he made a phone call right in front of me and said i was correct, except only a few. theyby forrestranger - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. i was there the day it happened, but had no idea that it took place until i got home and found out from a friend who heard it on the news... i was taking photos in the Valley when i saw a helicopter buzzing right above me, i wondered what was going on and figured it couldn't be good. sad, really sad.by forrestranger - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. For future knowledge, if you have a handicap license plate, there are places to park. it will save you a LONG walk. i was there Feb. 24th and there were a number of pull out places to park, i had no problem getting a parking place.by forrestranger - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

you can also rent camping vehicles right outside of all park entrances (on the side of the road, with a ticket on the windshield), kind of a self serve.... can't fully remember, but there might have been a kiosk for it.by forrestranger - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

i must be living on another planet, just a few short years ago, i used to pull in the Upper Pines campground without a reservation, and get one no problem, now when i go to Yosemite website, it shows an X or an R (meaning not available, or reserved), but from now until forever, there are only a handful of days available. is it that busy now this time of year??? why is it that most sites are &qby forrestranger - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. i have a phone number about the current weather, but it only tells you if chains are required or not (which they always are in the winter months), but i was wondering if there is a number to find out how much snow is in the valley? (probably not, just thought i'd ask). i was thinking of going there this wednesday.by forrestranger - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
