Sea... I just came across this on The Firefighter Blog: http://firefighterblog.blogspot.com/ ****************** Upon signing out for the day Telegraph Air Attack reported to Telegraph Operations the fire is doing "much better than yesterday". He described how earlier in the day they successfully worked from the south then north. He acknowledged he couldn't see through the smoke to gby Louis - General Discussion
According to the CHP and Mariposa County Sheriff report Colorado Rd. and Ranchera Creek Rd. are closed and evacuations are in effect for that area. Here's a good link to find the latest updates: http://www.goldrushcam.com/by Louis - General Discussion
It just keeps getting bigger. We had heavy smoke from it all day at the lake.by Louis - General Discussion
I understand Yosemite Valley was without power last night. Has it been restored yet?by Louis - General Discussion
I don't think the fire will be a threat to Yosemite but it could possibly result in Hwy 140 being closed. As for the smoke it's hard to say. We've been dealing with smoke for weeks. It just depends on the winds. I'd say go ahead with your trip and see how it looks when you get to Yosemite. Louisby Louis - General Discussion

I live at Tahoe and its been off and on here. Right now its especially bad. I would hope it'll be over by the 27th. but there's no way to tell for sure. I'd suggest wait until closer to your check-in date and see how it goes.by Louis - General Discussion

On my trip to Big Trees on Hwy 4 today I noticed the price for regular at Bear Valley was $4.59.by Louis - General Discussion
We prefer up 108 and back 4. If you have time be sure and stop by Big Trees on 4.by Louis - General Discussion
Sonora Pass is my favorite. Fewer people and the scenery is great. More than once I've been on my way to Tioga and decided to turn on Hwy 108 instead. Be sure to stop at the LeavittFalls Overlook if you go that route.by Louis - General Discussion
Probably better following a huge RV than to have it following you at close range. : )by Louis - General Discussion

In the 11:55 AM update of the web cam I could see some large equipment very close to the gate house so I guess they have made it all the way now.by Louis - General Discussion
Apparently they have now opened the road from the east all the way to the pass. *************** SR 120 IS CLOSED FROM CRANE FLAT (TUOLUMNE CO) TO THE TUOLUMNE/MONO CO LINE /TIOGA PASS/ - FOR THE WINTER - MOTORISTS ARE ADVISED TO USE AN ALTERNATE ROUTEby Louis - General Discussion
I think Caltrans usually plows all the way to the county line in Toulumne Meadows.by Louis - General Discussion
We drove from Tahoe to Lee Vining today. The lower gate on Tioga Road was closed and locked so we just hung a left onto the Poole Power Plant road and drove along Lee Vining Creek for aways. Stopped at a small turnout by a huge pine and walked down to the creek. We couldn't stay though because the wind was howling down the canyon, blowing branches out of the trees and such. Both going and comingby Louis - General Discussion
They are making great progress. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Tioga Road Status report as of April 28, 2008 Tioga Road Opening operations continued on Saturday 4/26/2008. In past years Caltrans has almost always had the road open from the east all the way to the Tioga Pass entrance well before the plows break through from the west...even when the road report says otherwise. If it doesn't snow, I'll probably head south on 395 Tuesday and check it out.by Louis - General Discussion
I like to go up there when they do that. There's practically no one around so it's incredibly quiet and peaceful.by Louis - General Discussion
Rick, I looked through the entire Yosemite collection. There are some great pix in it.by Louis - General Discussion

They may have had a pretty good snow during the night at Tioga. This morning when I looked at the cam the lens was mostly blocked. http://www.yosemite.org/vryos/TiogaCam.htmby Louis - General Discussion
I looked at the Tioga Pass Web Cam a few minutes ago and it appears they may be getting a little snow in the area. Really overcast and dreary looking up there. Still a lot on the ground too.by Louis - General Discussion
