How about: I HIKED HALF DOME WITH ONE BOTTLE OF WATER (and passed out at Nevada) 4 HALF DOME PERMITS (turned around at the footbridge)by mbear - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Haha.. I love the bit on their website about closing Half Dome to casual visitors. 17 miles, 4800 feet for casual visitors? I don't like the third cable idea at all. I think they should tear down that Ahwahnee and rebuild it on the summit, complete with helipad. Also, Yosemite Falls could use a log flume.by mbear - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. I thought the time delay was part of the initial plan. So they haven't been following through with it? smhby mbear - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I'm not sure that it would make sense to flag the same post from multiple computers at work if they're all on the same LAN. Craigslist will see the same IP Address for each.by mbear - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Wow, you never run from a bear; Carl Lewis wouldn't stand a chance running from a grizzly. It's tragic news to hear, but you have to do your homework and know what you're getting into when going in the wilderness. After studying the area for a while and listening to what regular hikers in there recommended, I made sure to take two cans of bear spray and put them on my belt for fast access when (sby mbear - General Discussion
Wow, that's deeply disturbing to hear. Two people were killed last year in the Yellowstone area; one in a predatory attack in Cooke City (no more than 4 or 5 miles from the NE entrance) and a hiker just east of the park (if I remember correctly) who was killed by a drugged grizzly who had just been released hours before. That totals 3 killings in a little more than a year now. I know the odds areby mbear - General Discussion

Being near the bay area, I would think there are people who legitimately want to camp in Yosemite who have the skills to create automated programs to snag a reservation.by mbear - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Quotechicagocwright Nice work. I may have set up a meeting and let the guy show up to meet no one. Send the final email while they are waiting for you. No response I guess? That's probably a little too far. Better to just tell the scalper off and try to get him to quit posting the fraudulent ad. So had a fun conversation with a scalper today; namely, the one trying to con people into buying the Tuolumne Meadows site QuoteMe I was coming to Yosemite next month, but I might be interested in taking your campsite (there are going to be 8 of us). It's gotta be cheaper than staying in the hotels in the park, so if I can get a good price I'd rather cancel my reservations. Will the road be opby mbear - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. It'll be interesting to see how many scalpers still try to sell their reservations. Part of me says you deserve what you get as a buyer in an illegal trade, but the sellers are a much greater evil and shouldn't be able to still profit from this.
