Love the frozen waterfall photos, as well as the rest of them...telling a great story... edit: The Conness bridge was washed downstream, still in view of the foundation. So it is gone?by hikerchick395 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
If you try to exceed your limit of days in Yosemite, your last reservation attempt will be kicked out and say "inventory not available...choose fewer days." Or, at least that's what I've experienced in the past. And this was when I've tried to get another reservation for my sister along with for myself. Last year, for Tuolumne, I was able to get two campsites for two nights, then weby hikerchick395 - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

We drove through Death Valley on September 21, a Thursday. Howling wind, but there was quite a lot of traffic. (Saw a motorcycle get blown over.) Furnace Creek was quiet, with the campgrounds shut down and the ranch readying for demolition. Dove back through on Saturday Sep 30. Furnace Creek was a ghost town! Went down the road last week. If you go, be prepared for lots of traffic! Lot of folks not very confident on the narrow parts of the road (or bombing it down like the buses.) We were surprised. It could've been so much more deadly as this is an area that is cleaned up during the Yosemite facelift. (debris and trash dropped by climbers is along that area.)by hikerchick395 - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Hmmm... I was in that area September 6th. I sort of ended up going around the Matthes area. Anyway, the Budd Lake trail was busy with climbers and the fork that split off to Budd Lake was quite quiet. One section of trail is about six inches wide on a sandy slope, with a few tree falls across it...no problem, but just interesting. I'll have to say that my experience, when finally getting toby hikerchick395 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
The more recent years have been frustrating on the Leave No Trace front. It seems that it is OK just do what you want, with no regards for nature, or anyone else. Last year, there was tissue or toilet paper left everywhere. This year my gripe is the picked bouquets of flowers left everywhere. Yeah, thanks for not leaving the live blooms for everyone else to enjoy...I'm glad that you enjoy yby hikerchick395 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

I did go into the store early in our visit just to look. I did know that they got their first shipment Monday July 23. It was a bit sparse, but later in our stay my sister said that Saturday, when we returned from our hike, it was better stocked. (I stayed outside.) I do know that this Monday they had no ice.
