Quotechick-on Klas, o yeah. I remember that one well. Actually have been on the north side a few times now... every time going in a bit more.. Wanted to get to 6402 before telling you what it was like. There's some nice granite outcroppings to hike around on. Actually went that-a-way to top of Chilnualna Falls a few weekends ago too. Quoteplawrence They're more gentle and timid than even Yosemite black bears. Come on now, when was the last time anyone's food was raided by Bigfoot in Yosemite? . Well I did not want to spook people too much. But here is conclusive proof that Bigfoot not only passed by Matterhorn Canyon (see Spiller Canyon trip picts) but that he/she wears the same size shoes as Shaq. Quotedruid There is a lot of interesting info about Ursacks and the various bear canister types and approval agencies here, including an unsettling picture of a mangled Bearikade (scroll to 05/11/2012) that will definitely make me think twice before taking mine where the bears are bigger and meaner than in California. This picture was taken on my drive home on 120 near White Wolf on Tuesday, the 27th around 9pm. Most of the horizon was impressively orange. I did not have a good camera or tripod so this modest photo is the best I could do to convey both the amazement and how far my heart sank, as I realized I was looking towards HH.by Catalonian Burro - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Quotechick-on Doz are the rules to have. If off trail then I'll keep other peeps in sight all the time. If wit da wifie and on trail that is well worn I can blaze ahead and wait here and there for her. Always stop at jcts. and stream crossings. If trail covered or new territory with suspect trail... then stick together. If on snowshoes... then it's pretty hard to get really far ahead. Cby Catalonian Burro - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Quotechick-on From the same trip: pre-storm: post-storm: I think the impressive thing to add is that the pre-photo was the night before (windy as heck that afternoon and evening). I think I recall reading that there is all kinds of natural occurring radioactive materials around us.
