Amazing photos. Thanks for sharing. I didn't get out much to the Sierra last summer because of time constraints, I'm hoping this year will be better.by pakoR - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Hi. The trail all the way up to the upper lake is easy to discern and follow. Also, about a mile after Dog Lake, you'll be out of the forest. Young Lakes was my first backpacking trip in Yosemite. Have fun!by pakoR - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

Thanks for the great post. I happen to be one of those lucky ones whose significant other enjoys the outdoors. She will willingly go on backpacking trips with me. On one trip a couple of years ago, we went to Rae Lakes out of Onion Valley. The original plan was to camp at Charlotte Lake the first night, and move to Rae Lakes on the second day. Hello. I went on an overnight trip to Dewey Point out of the Badger Pass Ski Area on 01/23-24. The weather forecast called for showers and snow on Saturday. However, both Saturday and Sunday were perfect days to be outdoors. It was overcast at Badger Pass with some light snow falling intermittently. Did an overnight trip this past weekend to Gallison Lake and the Lewis Creek area from Tuolumne Meadows. On Saturday, the day was clear, sunny, and with a blue sky. Temps were in the mid-60s for most of the day. We'd read the weather forecasts and were prepared for precipation at night and for Sunday. Was your group the one camping near Bridalveil Creek on Saturday night, and then continuing east on the Pohono trail at 9am on Sunday? I was taking photos of the creek and bridge, and caught a group of 8 people crossing the bridge in one of my pictures. If that's you, I'll send you the photo. We hiked starting on the Four Mile Trail to the Pohono Trail. Beautiful views.by pakoR - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

Hello again. Decided to hike along the south rim of Yosemite Valley this time around. Started on the Four Mile Trail to Glacier Point, and then continued on the Pohono Trail to Wawona Tunnel. For this trip, we did a car shuttle leaving a few cars at the Pohono Trail / Wawona Tunnel overnight parking area, drove half the group and backpacks to the Four Mile TH, parked the cars at the Curry Villby pakoR - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Hello everyone. Last weekend, 3/27-28, went backpacking along the north rim of Yosemite Valley. Started up the Mirror Lake / Snow Creek TH, to Indian Rock, North Dome, and down the Yosemite Falls TH. It was my first time in this area. The views were magnificent. Temperatures were in the low 70s during the day and in the low 40s during the night. Water is still running strong on Snow Creek;by pakoR - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

Headed to Laurel Lake this past weekend from Hetch Hetchy. It was a great weekend of snow, sun, and great views. We started off around 9:30am from the dam, and there was a light rain already. Snow flurries began to fall as we started hiking up the switchbacks. For most of the day the temperature was between 40-45F. Above 6000', there were about 3" of snow on the ground which had accumulby pakoR - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Hello Steve. I went through Benson Lake last summer as part of a 5 day trip from Tuolumne Meadows to Twin Lakes. Here is the link to the TR. Most of Cold Canyon had great spots for camping, and Smedberg would definitely be a great spot. In retrospect, I would have preferred to spend a night at Smedberg rather than at Benson Lake.by pakoR - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Yep! I did not see it when I was framing the shot, until after I was browsing and weeding out the bad photos. I first saw the shadow in the pool of water. Pretty cool.by pakoR - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

It's a pretty well traveled trail. I've visited the area twice. If your GPS supports uploading of GPX files, here's a route I created on CalTopo. Hit the EXPORT button, and save as a GPX file or Garming GPS file for your unit.by pakoR - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Hello all. This is the 2nd 5-day trip I did this season. In short, it was an awesome experience. We covered about 58 miles from Tuolumne Meadows to Twin Lakes. Here is the route on CalTopo. Hello. I would like to thank everyone who contributes to this forum by providing trail reports and photos from their trips. I started visiting here around the spring of 2013. Since then, I have been reading a lot of the older posts, absorbed in the places people visit, and getting ideas for my own backpacking trips. I figured I would contribute with some of my own trip reports and photos. Eaby pakoR - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Interesting topic. I cannot say that I've ever worried about my photos getting ripped off on the web, but certainly, I dwell on the issue of losing detail when resizing every time I'm processing a photo. Awesome work David. fcoby pakoR - General Discussion

Hello. I was backpacking in Yosemite this past weekend, 5/17. The original plan to reach Upper Cathedral Lake was thwarted by the snow on the trail, and so only managed to reach Lower Cathedral Lake. All in all, it was a fun trip. I will post pictures later today. For the first 2 miles, the trail is dry. In the next 1.5 miles, above 9000', the trail was covered in snow up to 4' thick.
