Quoteplawrence It's really not that much longer time-wise to take Hwy 140 from the Central Valley (versus Hwy 41) when approaching Yosemite from the south. According to Google Maps it only about 15 minutes longer (which is close to what I've found driving the different routes myself). Hwy 41 is the slowest road into Yosemite, even in GOOD weather, since there are extremely very few places toby mtn man - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I'd plan on going in on 140. Snow level of 6000 ft. is lower than the highest elevation along 41 in the park (6200). 140 doesn't get that high up (4000). I remember it as being only about another 30 miles more than 41, but I'd check a map on that (41 to 49 to 140).by mtn man - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

It looks like the sites in Lower Pines and North Pines that had been held off the reservation system due to flooding fears in May were recently put back on. I checked a few days ago and they were not available but as of today available and booked. Anyone know what day they added them back on?by mtn man - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Quotehikerchick395 Friday was quite a nightmarish day. With a high wind warning hoisted, the wind ferociously arrived about an hour late. The wind came roaring down Pine Creek Canyon sounding like a jet fighter. Trees, branches and fences came down and that would've been enough to try to handle, but then the fire started. QuoteLBFam A bit bummed about it being on the weekend as well. Have a trip planned for this weekend and bringing my two nieces for their first visit to Yosemite. Was hoping to get a few good hikes in with them but I'm sure they'll still have a great time - albeit a bit colder than anticipated. Normally if you call within 1 day of your arrival time and say you'll be a day late they will hold your reservation but charge you a $10 "reservation change fee" and you will forfeit you first night camping fee of $20. Sounds like they were trying to get your OK to give away your campsite the first night since you wouldn't be there and with your OK to do so credit you either the $20 orby mtn man - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Quoteyoser Often times, the parking pad in the campground is actually large enough, but the actual loop road to get to the site is not able to be maneuvered by large rigs (the campground roads were build long before rigs became so large). So, the length of the parking pad is not always the only indicator if you will fit. (I used to work in the valley campgrounds). Hear is a link to a similar discussion about site sizes and trailer sizes. Scroll down and you will see that "Pinecone" put up a list of campsites and their pad sizes.
