Happy Birthday! I still remember the closest I ever came to seeing Chick-On. We were on our way UP airplane gully after an aborted Tenaya Canyon daytrip trek that brought us down, using ropes, Pywiack Cascades. A lone person passed us heading down and I said, "Are you Chick-On?" For you had said you were doing the Canyon the next day. Alas it wasn't you---and least the person whoby chicagocwright - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

Based on these result do I conclude correctly that we still had a below average snowfall? Albeit much better than the last couple years... But what will this generally speaking mean for the waterfalls the week of August 14? I've got a quick family trip and want to make sure I give everyone the right expectations. They have heard how great the snow is this year but I'm not so sure it has beeby chicagocwright - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Quoteeeek QuoteK2Federal Government needs to pony up whatever it takes to buy these names or tell these corporations where to go flat out. The problem is DNC putting valuations on the trade marks that far exceeds their real value. It's probably just a ploy to up the amount they receive from their replacement. Quotewherever Quotechicagocwright It seems to me that the Park Service shares some blame with this entire issue. QuotePineCone Quotechicagocwright Thankfully there have been no plans to change anything about the Curry Pizza Deck! Ha! Trademark "Space Shuttle Atlantis"... It is the silt in the water that causes the color change and sometimes called glacier milk. (really rough on water filters by the way) So even if the classification had changed to a "snowfield" from a glacier it would still contain the silt that causes the water color change.by chicagocwright - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

I'm skeptical that this is a workable or even worthwhile solution. The article notes that the successful "Rehab" Center only releases bears where "natural staples are abundant" and in "remote places where they likely won't see a person for a while". In any event the clumsy way the situation was handled and the citations make them all look petty and distract from the worthwhile message of conservation and semblance of wilderness experience.
