Hello all. I have been lurking (if anyone noticed my absence). And of course I have been enjoying all Da Bird's posts and Basil's and Almostythere's etc. Q: I am planning on Young's again, last time I got skunked casting into the lake. Any anglers around these parts have any tips? I heard that the streams are pretty good at times. I am using a spinner with various lures, no flies.by rroland - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Hey Dave, I was predicting a response from you first, thanks for doing so. I agree the Eucalyptus is a pest, it causes rot and fungus unhealthy conditions, but using a strong herbicide seems over the top in a populated area IMO. This area was not part of the Oaklnad Hills fire so it seems excessive too. If the Eucalytus is gonna get put down in the bay area we have to find a healthier way.by rroland - General Discussion

Quotechick-on Thank u kind sir Yeah, Happy Birthday man. I like the comparison shot of Emeric! Last time I was in LYV I was hikng up along Merced river and thought about you and all the off trail adventures you've had back up river and day-dreamed of being that bird...then I went pack to steri-penning my nalgene..by rroland - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. My teeny two cents worth. To do this you'll have to wait till Yarts operates.. Park at Sunrise T/H hike up to a Sunrise lake, camp. JMT to Cloud's Rest, To Half Dome, to LYV, camp. JMT to valley (don't take mist trail w a heavy pack...scary). Take tram around valley after drinkin 6 beers, go to Visitor Center by 4pm and wait for Yarts to get you back to your car. aaaaand yer doneby rroland - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Just saw this movie yesterday at the Castro Theater Monumental: David Brower's Fight for America's Wilderness. A great movie with his own narration and cool grainy color film. It was so cool to see David hiking up to Roosevelt Lake and diving off the same rock I fished off (thanks Chick-on for the guidance on me getting there). Also interesting was his work in WWII leading troops rock climbingby rroland - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

i have no scientific methods. a regular at the place i work at in SF, who lives in Yosemite knows a guy who works the plows and blasts for avalanche prevention, he says dude hasn't done any blasting at all because it's been so light this year..i am hoping it opens mid-may, young's lakes would be yummyby rroland - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. QuoteHitech Quoterroland ahem... So, where is this? I might want to see it in person some day. I don't know what the place is called but it is a knoll or rise where the trail from Tenaya lake meets the trail to Sunrise or Cloud's (depending on which way you want to go). It's a pretty cool spot to take Jr Chick-ons like me to. enjoyby rroland - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
