Thanks for the info folks. We are leaving early tomorrow and it appears from everything I have been able to read is the we should be okay for tenting it. Duck Pass might not be in the plans. I am familiar with the hike up to the trailhead at the end of Coldwater, easily an extra mile plus in the snow "uphill each direction" . GO BRUINSby Bruins Rule - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Thank you for the update. OPEN is GOOD. My main concern is a snow free site for the tent, since the wife and kids would prefer not to sleep on the white stuff. If I may prod for more info. How much snow was under the trees on the east side of Lower Twin Lake? Just a few inches here and there, or large patches a foot deep or more? For those on the 395 side of the Sierra. Does anyone have any current info about the accessibility of the campgrounds in the Mammoth Lakes district. I have reservations for the family in the Twin Lakes campground for 6/24-28. I am curious as to how much snow is still on the ground? I can't seem to get a straight answer from the Visitor Center, the rangers, or anyone else. I saw the photoby Bruins Rule - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
It is great to hear about trips like yours. It sounds like it was truly special. I rarely post, but thoroughly enjoy reading what everyone here has to say about Yosemite. My trip with the family to Tuolomne in late June was nixed due to the late snows earlier this year. Maybe next year if time and conditions allow. Gents, Thanks for the updates. They are truly appreciated. I am keeping my fingers crossed for it to melt by the 27th, but I am getting the impression that may be wishful thinking. Thanksby Bruins Rule - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
EEEK, Thanks for the video. That helps answer the question as to general conditions along the road. Obviously there is still snow all over the place. Is it about the same for Tuolumne Meadows campground? GO BRUINSby Bruins Rule - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Yo chick-on, You da-bomb. I was at that web-page this morning and they had a different peekchure up for viewing. It looks like the majority of the snow is melting very fast, which means it will be flooded for several weeks, with muddy campsites to boot. Thanksby Bruins Rule - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Likewise, this is my first post on the site. And I too have been "lurking" for quite some time. My question is a bit different but fits in with the topic of RR1. I have been planning a family camping trip to Tuolumne Meadows since January for the week of 6/27 - 7/3. The late snows this year are throwing a monkey wrench into our plans.
