Oops, I just saw this thread over on the other forum - I thought it was more General Discussion than related to Yosemite specifically. Maybe this can be merged over there.by kingkong5 - General Discussion
Am I the only one getting this spam in my Personal Messages? I find it annoying that a ticket scalper would take advantage of the National Parks Service to steal and resell all the tickets for himself, and plan to have no part in supporting his scam. Is there anything else I can do about this? Here is the PM I received: Reserve Yosemite From: Little Indian To: kingkong5 05/23/2011 11:56Aby kingkong5 - General Discussion
Quotemrcondron Quotechick-on This one baffles me... on account I've known you... what 15+ years??... and the first I hear of this incredible Pizza Palace is a week ago. OD doesn't tell you everything. I didn't know you shot in the seventies until Billy Bob came home sobbing after a round with you. I play golf in the seventies too. If it gets much colder than that, I just stay at home!by kingkong5 - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
QuoteAlmostThere If it's across from McDonald's in Oakhurst, it's Pizza Factory. We stop there on the way back from dayhikes in Yosemite most times. The other times, we stop at Todd's BBQ - take your friends/family there too, you will be twice the hero. Excellent pulled pork. Thanks for the suggestion on Todd's. I'll look that one up. Can't wait for our trip at the end of August now. Believe itby kingkong5 - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Holy smokes you guys ROCK! I believe it IS the Pizza Factory in Oakhurst. Just looked at it on Google Maps and remembered that there was a McDonald's out in front of it, plus the outside patio on the right. I'm going to double check to make sure, I'll upload the picture of our pizza later. I also saw a menu online, and remembered that we had ordered the garlic cheese bread, which was like pizza cby kingkong5 - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
The last time I went to Yosemite with the family was back in 2004. Coming up from SoCal, I believe we took the shortest way possible. 5N to 99N through Fresno, 41 through Wawona and then 140 into the park. Somewhere just before entering Yosemite (I want to say in Merced, but not sure?) right off the main road was the most fabulous pizza place. We stopped for a bathroom break and late lunch. Thanks so much for the helpful advice. I feel like a HKC expert now. I'm already excited looking forward to the kids first time in Yosemite, and I'll be sure to bring back lots of pictures. It's nice to know we can cook our own food, as we prefer that. We plan to rent a portable cooking stove when we get there. So it appears that my camping reservation is legit, yay! At the end of August I will be taking my family (me and DW, DS and DD ages 5 and 2), along with a few in-laws and their kids. We have two housekeeping camp sites booked, will arrive on Friday and leave on Sunday. Being in Orange County, I've been lucky to get dragged to Yosemite a handfull of times over the years by my parents. We've stby kingkong5 - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Thanks eeek! Is there a different place to call if I'm registered as a republican? I don't really want to call the democratic national convention for help. j/k let me find out what dnc means. Thanks again.by kingkong5 - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
This looks like a great resource on one of my favorite parks, Yosemite. I'm from California, 36 years old and pretty much grew up in Orange County CA my whole life. During the summers and vacations, my parents often took our family up to Yosemite. With these fond memories, I'm going to try to do the same for my two kids, age 5 and 2.
