Do you think this is it for the season? Any chance it may open back up?by sclippi - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
We were there last year at this time and it depended on where you were in camp. Fortunately we were toward the center of the camp (C38). We had almost no problems with skeeters. When we took walks around (especially towards the edge of camp and by the water) there were huge swarms. You give up privacy, but you also put alot of other folks between you and the skeeters! Thanks for all the input! I think we're going to find some time mid-week to go up. We live in the bay area, but generally go up the night before and spend the night in Jamestown where my husband's grandparents live. Pretty tough getting to the park by 8:30 even from Jamestown when you're trying to round up a 9 and 11 year-old. Cheers! Sharonby sclippi - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Our family really enjoys the calm and quite of the valley in the winter and early spring. We never head to the valley during the summer because it's just too busy. Great to hear you had a great trip! We are heading up next week for 3 nights with our two kids (8 and 10). Were there any specific things that the kids really enjoyed? Also, how was the mosquito situation? Thanks!by sclippi - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
My husband and I were planning to take the kids (8 and 10) up to TM for 3 days at the beginning of August, but having second thoughts due to the reports of bad mosquito action up there. The first bad omen for the trip was the closure of Old Priest Grade, now vicious swarms of blood suckers all day... might be more than we can take. Any possibility that the mosquito situation will improve in theby sclippi - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
