QuoteIt is incorrect to call Vernal a "falls" because it is technically a fall, since it is a single cascade. As long as the semantics are being busted out. Doesn't a cascade flow over/down something while a water freefalls in a waterfall? Dictionary says "a small waterfall or series of small waterfalls", but I always associated it with water at <90 degree angle. I gotby Treeswing - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

All that and the reports that other people were yelling and begging them to come back to where it was safe. It is sad, but what they did was reckless, irresponsible and (reportedly)willfully ignorant of numerous warnings. Quoterightstar76 I think NPS should have put up signs and that a lawsuit may guarantee that NPS will do that in the future. So you want a ranger to risk their life to cross this bridge after the water has risen dangerously to put up a sign for them? Quoterightstar76 The park should have done more to alert people to the danger. More than categorically state, in multiple places and verbally whenever you might ask an official, that you are in wilderness and it not just can be, but is, a dangerous place? I've never taken any warnings about mountainous areas lightly. The survivor wrote that they made the decision quickly, they shouldn't have. Mby Treeswing - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada.
