My husband and I did that scramble this summer. It's one of his favorites and he will be going again the next visit. For me, it seemed so strange to be in Yosemite with no other person around.by healeygirl - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

For your 1st time, take the tour bus for day 1, day 2 hike Necada Falls, day 3 hike upper Yosemite. If you definately Want to backpack, get to a ranger station where they issue wilderness permits around 5am. They supposedly keep 30% of the permits for walk-ins. Have fun. Before you know it, you'll be planning your 2nd trip.hby healeygirl - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Try Rancheria Falls in Hetch Hetchy. It's a nine mile moderate hike along Hetch Hetchy reservoir. There's a back campers camp right there at the trailhead also. Very scenic.by healeygirl - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Saw three rattlesnakes in Hetch Hetchy last year. 2 were laying right on the trail to Rancheria Falls and 1 slithered right in front of me as I was coming down the Beehive trail. They weren't bothered by me.by healeygirl - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Is the trail to Rancheria Falls via Wapama Falls open to customers? It doesn't indicate that it's closed on the Yosemite website but I haven't heard that they've opened it.by healeygirl - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
