Thanks you two. I think a solo outing would be fun as long as there are some people to bump into and talk to along the way. Shouldn't be a problem here. If I do in fact make it up (fingers crossed), I will keep my eyes open for you AlmostThere, or a bright pink bird sporting an Aaron Rodgers jersey along the way. Thanks for the advice and have fun this weekend!by MOOOOSE - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I have this Friday and Monday off work and am considering a last minute Yosemite backpacking trip. So far none of my friends can make it on such late notice so I am wondering if anyone here that is planning a trip for this weekend might want some extra company. A solo trip might be fun too but my gf doesn't want me to go alone haha. I would be open for anything that I can get a first come wildby MOOOOSE - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Hello fellow Yosemite Adventurers, Thanks to great advice from many of you, my friends and I had a great time on our backpacking trip from July 15th to the 19th. I apologize this report is so late. But I thought some people may still be interested. Our original plan was to start at the May Lake trail head and head north to the Tuolumne river, and west to WW falls, then back to TM. Thanks Tom. But the way I understand it is that you CAN cross Tioga road as long as you are just crossing to continue into wilderness and not walking along the road.by MOOOOSE - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I see now. That looks like a nice route. Thank you for the info. Does anyone have any info or educated guesses on the trail conditions from May Lake to Glen Aulin? From my map it looks like I will be crossing Cathedral Creek and a stream NE of McGee lake before I get to Glen Aulin. Any info on these crossings? Thanks ttilley. I actually did see your original trip report and it was very helpful. But it sounds like you started near Little Devil's Postpile instead of May Lake? The May Lake to Glen Aulin stretch is what I am more worried about due to the amount of snow around the Lake. Also, where exactly is the Devils Postpile Trail head that you all referred to? Does someone have a map showing it? Jusby MOOOOSE - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I need some advice from the experts on this topic as well. I will be departing on the 15th to May Lake trailhead for my backpacking trip. I was hoping that there would be less snow by now than what Klas's picture shows above. Yikes : / As of now, I have two alternate plans using my wilderness permit from the May Lake TH. I am hopeful that one of these will provide a trail that is not covereby MOOOOSE - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

QuoteKenS Tuolumne Wilderness Center Opening Only permits for the Tuolumne and Tioga Road trailheads will be available due to the lack of communication with the other permit stations. Does this mean permits are being issued to all Tioga Road trailheads? I have reservations for May Lake TH July 15-19 and I was worried that they might not be issuing permits for this trailhead by then due to tby MOOOOSE - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada.
