About the pix, As plawrence says these are links to old Facebook pictures, not sure how to fix so that they display correctly. Also not organized enough to have my pix on a photo site, sorry. Chick-on, now I want to hear about your trip and see your pictures. Pretty please?by KatyAnderson - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Yippee to the powers that be for this new free hikers bus !by KatyAnderson - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I am very curious about this bus. According to this page it is not the Tuolumne Hiker bus that used to run just once a day between the Valley and Tuolumne for a fee of $12 or so. Instead it's a free bus with three or four runs per day. Exciting!by KatyAnderson - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

The confusion regarding Glacier Point road opening continues. This was just posted on the YARTS facebook page: "Glacier Point Road in Yosemite National Park to Open Tomorrow, Saturday, March 28, 2015 The Glacier Point Road in Yosemite National Park will open for the season to automobile traffic tomorrow, Saturday, March 28, 2015, at 6:00 a.m. All visitor services at Glacier Point will beby KatyAnderson - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Many reasons, but these stand out: Sheryl Strayed book Wild was published in 2012. The documentary Mile, Mile and a Half released in 2013. JMT Facebook page, which to date has 11,000 members, really took off in 2014. The film Wild starring Reese Witherspoon is now playing in theaters.by KatyAnderson - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Probably makes no difference to your plans, but just wanted to mention that the cabin was still locked when I checked it out this past weekend. Don't think it opens until the Tioga Road closes for winter. Camping at Snow Creek is always a joy. Here is our campsite view of Watkins Pinnacles:by KatyAnderson - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. These are really lovely photos. Thanks for posting! I was also in the Valley this past weekend. Took a few shots with my phone, not great quality, but you get the idea. Trail along Mirror Lake Valley loop trailby KatyAnderson - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Spent Columbus Day weekend in Yosemite, mostly along Tioga Road, taking advantage of the last days before the road closes to overnight parking. Here are a few snapshots: Spent the first night at the backpackers campground at Hetch-Hetchy. Took a short evening walk to the dam. A little late contributing to this thread. Here is May Lake all frozen over on the morning of May 15. That day it was balmy warm, the next few days got colder and some snow, and now it is warm again. More melting will certainly happen before you get there in early June, so not sure how helpful this photo is, but I had it so ... BTW when I was there the May Lake road was plowed but not open. Oh and there will definitely be several wet creek crossings: Rodgers, Register, Dingley, Delaney and probably a few more. How deep and how fast running is anybodies guess. Talk through this with your friends before you go.by KatyAnderson - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
The Tuolumne shuttle doesnt go to White Wolf so that is out. There is one yarts bus per day in each direction that stops at White Wolf, but it only runs on weekends during the month of June. Finally there is the hiker bus that runs once per day once the season is up and running. The hiker bus leaves Tuolomne Meadows in the early afternoon. Someone else might know the exact time.by KatyAnderson - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Thanks for the info Dave. If the tent covering is up I think there would be some chance that they open next weekend. That will be four days into my trip. By that time I will be ready for a snack, some ice cream and the opportunity to top off my supplies with a couple of freeze dried meals. If they are not yet open I will just return to the valley, and if they are I will have the opportunity toby KatyAnderson - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I know that it is usually a while after the road opens and before the campground. Anybody have the inside scoop? I am asking because I will be arriving in Yosemite Valley by YARTS on Tuesday 5/13. Planning to backpack to Tuolumne and environs, and then back down to the valley, out for a week, maybe more. It would be great to be able to top up supplies in the store.by KatyAnderson - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Lunch at Lodge cafeteria in early January of this year was a less than thrilling experience. I had the lunch special, a lasagna that was unappetizing in both taste and appearance, with tasteless soggy greens as a side dish and a stale bread stick to go with it. Possibly the worst lunch I have ever had. Only the fact that I had paid almost $13 made me take a few bites before I gave up.by KatyAnderson - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
