Quoteryanmj...make sure to take a crack at Midnight lightning, ask the camp host for pointers Fixed that for you Don't let the video QITNL (hey buddy!) posted of Lynn Hill fool you, V8 is no joke. The start holds are small as and will destroy your finger tips in a big damn hurry if you arent a reasonably strong climber already. That being said, I'm rather looking forward to pulling down onby nervousOne - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Speaking from my experience last year, you won't be allowed to ascend subdome sans permit. For reference, I encountered a Ranger a bit before subdome last year. This is assuing the cables are up at the time you go. If they're up, try to get a permit via the daily lottery. I was successful in doing so last year, rather easily I might add. There were, at minimum, 60+ available on the two days I triby nervousOne - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Sorry to hear you got so sick man! Here's what I did to acclimatize before my day hike this season. Camped at the trailhead to White Mountain on night 1 (11.4k feet and FREE). We had planned to hike the White Mountain trail in the morning. It was suggested as a good training hike on the Portal Store message board. It's only 5.5-6.5 (I forgoet which) with a 3k elevation gain but you spend moreby nervousOne - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
The cables didn't fail. The hikers on the cables dismnatled them in order to assist the guy who fell. He fell while reaching for a walkie talkie that slipped and down he went.by nervousOne - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

I don't understand why people dont pull over when they have 10-15 car trains lined up behind. Drives me friggin NUTS! On an unrelated note, I've been reading this forum for quite some time now, but this is my first post here. Sure to be one of many after I make the move out to CA in June. Following in Chick-On's footsteps actually. Leaving good old Wisconsin behind. Anyway, I'm really lookby nervousOne - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
