Hello All - Looking for advice for backpacking with kids - trail ideas, not the wisdom of the decision! In any case we've been going from TM towards Donahue / Lyell Canyon over the past few years. Both my 9 year-old and 7 year-old have been making the trip since they turned 5 (not OVER Donahue mind you, just the requisite 5 or so miles in to where camping is permitted). socalcpa: we used mammoth taxi - ask for scottie - he knows whats up. We had them pick six of us up in the valley and drop us off at Mammoth, then picked us up the morning of the hike to drive us to the trail head (red's meadow was closed so we had to grind up outta silver lake/rush creek). I can't remember the cost, but definitely fair. As an added bonus, Scottie is pretty active in the outdoby Fugazi - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Sorry to Chick-on if I missed this in a prior link (I'm sure I did), but I need a little help from the pros here. My group will be doing a small piece of the JMT from around Devil's Postpile to YV between June 21-25. However, YARTS does not run during the week at this point in the summer.
