Thanks for the views as they must feel to you seeing them after sunset like that. I'll never see these particular views in person. Beautiful scenes.by andrys - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Okay. It was my first visit to Yosemite in about 57 years, and I've been back there three times in the last half year now. Stoneman Meadow 1/2 hr after sun rose above Half Dome A few minutes earlier A sepia experiment on a similar shot I'm sort of obsessed with the place these days. I was congratulating myself on getting over Yosemite addiction (reading about it all the timeby andrys - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
You caught the early morning colors and mist well. I was at Stoneman Meadow Oct 30 early morning and saw similar colors and mist. Is it considered okay to add a couple of photos?by andrys - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Stupendous photos. Those wrap around clouds already can be scary up there, especially when they were warning about thunderstorms but you were there early and they were not supposed to hit until 2:30pm or so. Those images are amazing.by andrys - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I'm wondering if you two did go to Yosemite after all, since your husband is a photographer. When I woke up and heard about thunderstorms coming that afternoon I was all excited. Finally, clouds! What I didn't expect were some beautiful storm clearings at Tunnel View, including at sundown. That was after most of the snow had melted as it was 2 hours after I noticed it was snowing...by andrys - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I was driving in this though lower down and my own little videoclip (18 seconds) shows what it was like for a driver expecting May weather :-) http://bit.ly/spring-snow (this goes to youtube and is on Highway 41) At 5:34 when I took the videoclip, I was at this point and it was the first time I was actually aware it was snowing. http://www.pbase.com/andrys/image/143971410 I weby andrys - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. I was in the valley until 4:30pm when I left to go back to the bay area via 140. I'd been there 5 days and even on Friday there was easy parking EVERYwhere along any road to get shots. Saturday was another story. It was bumper to bumper but not moving and they had traffic directors an equivalent block apart to try to get the traffic moving at all. Hardly any parking spaces anywhere either.by andrys - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I spent about 5-1/2 hrs at Tunnel Road area on May 25 and left for awhile just before 5:30 pm and went up as far as the turnoff to Glacier Pt where there are 16 mi to go, and that's an hour after closure, but cars were turning there to go up. I saw two hesitating but no obvious barriers. Must have been an indication somewhere. I took a still picture of what the snow was like there. http://wwby andrys - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada.
