Oh, (perhaps I should have started a new thread) but what has traffic been like in the valley lately with the shuttle buses not running? Have to admit it was nice last year with so few people allowed in...by longnstrait - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Thanks all, I usually put in at Stoneman and pull out before Sentinel Beach anyway. I'll bring up the kayaks based on this info.by longnstrait - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
With the dismal snow pack this winter does anyone know if the river is open to raft with a personal raft yet this summer? I am going up June 12th-19th and would like to bring my inflatable kayks for a float. I heard the rental rafts would be closed for the summer but I thought that might be COVID related rather than water levels.by longnstrait - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Hi, Leaving tomorrow for a week in the valley. Should I even bother bringing the inflatable kayaks? Any chance the river will be raftable next week?by longnstrait - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Yes, it's like when my ex-wife used to leave her purse on the car seat when we parked and I'd tell her to please put it out of view, she'd always say "but there's not any money in it". The thief doesn't know that until after he breaks in! By then the damage to my car is done. Same with the bear I guess...by longnstrait - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Thanks for the info Ryan, good stuff. I may venture on past Sunnyside Bench just to see how far I can make it. Wherever, is your route doable with water still flowing like it is? I am going up this Sunday, and from the webcam the flow may be lighter than most years at this time but still fairly strong.by longnstrait - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Thanks, both links are helpful. I might "chicken-out" and just go to Sunnyside Bench, it sounds a little intimidating after that.by longnstrait - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Anyone out there have experience with this hike/scramble? I have heard about a potenially dangerous stretch with loose sandy shale on granite that could pose problems. I have even heard mention of using rope in that area. I would love to do this hike next week but I don't really want to risk death over it. Any thoughts from the experts out there?by longnstrait - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
