Quotebuster Assuming they don't reopen Tioga Pass next week, you can only enter from the west, either highway 120, 140 or 41. So depending on where you are coming from, I would take the most direct route. The only variation on this is if a storm is forecasted, it might be easier to 140 as it is at a lower elevation and much less affected by snow. With a dog you are rather limited for hikes, prby rickf - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Thanks Eeek!.. I guess, unless things changes, I'll probably head up SR 140 from the west side.. The current claim is that it's wide open to the valley..by rickf - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
So, we're supposed to be at upper pines mid-week.. Is there a preferred way into the park (east vs west, etc)? Also, are there any nice (but not too long) hiking trails that would be good to see the area and are ok for dogs? I've not yet looked for the dogs on trails regulations -- ours is very small but I realize leash is required, pickup any crap,etc.. One more stupid question -- IF I've got an Annual Pass (like this one), is that usable to get a discount on the campground fees or not really? When placing the order on their website I see the following near the bottom : QuoteYou cannot use the America the Beautiful Annual Pass or any other pass for a discount. Is this correct or wrong? Thanks for the reply.. This would be in a class-C motor home -- 24ft-- nice-n-small without any slideouts or anything.. As for when, I'm thinking mid April next year and possibly this coming November for Thanksgiving.. I think upper pines may be one of the only ones that is open all year and takes RV's.. For April I guess a few more CG's are likely to be open by then.. Perhaps for April we'llby rickf - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Hi all.. I was wondering if we were going to stay in Yosemite (or try at least) in the spring with a 24' RV, what are the better campgrounds that can accomodate that size RV (which is likely any RV capable campground I'd guess) and which might be less crowded (again, might).. My wife and I have never stayed in Yosemite but I've driven through it a few times many years ago and looking for advby rickf - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
