Sorry man... The Sonora pass is almost as beautiful, but does take more timeby Markanthonydj - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Any guesses as to when this road will be opened? I have plans for memorial day weekend to head into the valley and was hoping to take the 395 into the 120. As of now... Looks like I'll be using the Sonora pass. With snow coming this week...feels like it's a slim chance.by Markanthonydj - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I'm looking for alternative places to stay (camping, glamping, lodging) in the Eastern Sierras for families. Anywhere from Lone Pine and up. We already have a small backpacking trip this month to Cottonwood Lakes (from horseshoe meadows)... I have two toddlers and am trying to get new ideas for another trip in August.by Markanthonydj - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I posted this question in the Whitney zone forums, figured I put it here too... Does anyone know how often the inventory for walk up reservations for Inyo wilderness permits are being updated? I've been monitoring the Cottonwood Lakes permits and haven't seen any allocation for the walk-ups come thru. I tried calling Inyo Wilderness Permits (760) 873-2483, but I hit 0 and then it disconnects.by Markanthonydj - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
On May 9th, I was able to get a reservation for the first week of June in Twin Lakes (Mammoth Area) and was wondering if I should still go. From all the posts from the social media posts for Mono County, it seems like a lot of things are opening up... but I'm not sure if they really wanted people up there right now. Anyone planning on heading up to the Inyo National Forest next month? Right now,by Markanthonydj - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Any slight chance anyone think the Tioga Pass will be open June 7th...by Markanthonydj - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
i verified the walk up status when i posted this. I guess if it stays in WalkUp status.. then it gives hope to those last minute campers going to the valley.by Markanthonydj - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
So... Just a curious thing I noticed with recreation.gov I had a reservation for mother's day weekend (may 10-12) but cancelled it just a few weeks ago. Out of curiosity, I looked on recreation.gov and it now shows the site I had as walkup. Does anyone know if this is a new policy? I thought it would get released back into the wild. I thought I might be able to attach a screenshot, butby Markanthonydj - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
