For those of us newbies....does this mean that if one were to backpack in the winter, we would no longer be able to spend the night inside the park before starting our trip? I mean, other than getting a coveted reservation at Upper Pines or staying in Yos. Lodge/Ahwahnee? Hello everyone! I will be basically following the HSC route on a 9 day backpacking trip mid-August, with a few side hikes mixed in. I've never been to any of the HSC camps before as all my Yosemite backpacking has been on the north and south rim of the valley.
