The one circled below - is it tower peak? Saw it in the background of someone’s Reddit post and it’s incredibly angular from the road to Hetch Hetchy, but barely visible. Couldn’t get anything useful from peakfinderby thsftw - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Hey everyone! I'm just curious if anyone who is really familiar with the area knows what the road might be like on those dates with the upcoming storm on Tuesday? The road only goes up to 8300 feet and I've been wanting to go up there forever so I'm staying the in Lone Pine on Thursday-Saturday. It looks like the forecast on Friday is a bit warmer but should I bring some tire chains just in case?by thsftw - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I was reading Wikipedia entries on the various Sierra Nevada peaks, and when I came across Mount Dana (furthest north 13k peak) and Matterhorn Peak (furthest north 12k peak) it made me wonder what the rest would be. I know that North Palisade would be the furthest north 14er, but what would be the furthest north 11k, 10k, 9k, and 8k before it goes to the Cascades?by thsftw - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Not sure if this question is something anyone will know, but I've always been curious as to why there's a full on freeway on highway 120 between Groveland and San Pedro reservoir. You can also see the bridge over the reservoir is obviously only half complete and has room for the other side of a freeway. Considering the Priest Grade, it's obvious there weren't plans to extend a freeway all the wayby thsftw - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
