Quotelovechris I never remember a bear issue back then. Later in the 1970's there were designated campsites and then I remember bears roaming about looking for goodies. Probably b/c they decided maybe to remove the bear "feeding" stations. ??? btw. Quotechchan23 thanks for the quick response! I hope the scenery would be great. This would be my first time hiking in Yosemite, I wonder why this trail head and other from Hetch Hetchy are not as popular? Or is it going to fill up as the other trails from the Valley and Tuolumne are to capacity? Quotechchan23 Hi! I am also planning a trip starting from Hetch Hetchy in late July - early August. Specifically up through Moraine Ridge, JMC, Wilma Lake, Bond Pass, around Huckleberry Lake, down towards Cherry and Elanor Lake and back to HH. I guess my concern is if there would be snow through that loop. I think the highest elevation in that route would be just shy of 10k feet. I have beenby bill-e-g - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Maybe of some interest... Someone asked about the named meadows in the Valley at some point. When we were there in March I went to the visitors center and had a conversation with a ranger there. We came up with this list: - Bridalveil (sometimes called Roosevelt) - El Capitan - Slaughterhouse - Leidig - Sentinel (sometimes called Chapel) - Cooks - Ahwahnee - Stoneman - Mirrby bill-e-g - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Quotemeriadoc So. With JMC being the midway of my June hike, it is where we decided to spend a whole day relaxing. Is this a good place to do so? Or is there a better point in our trails where we might enjoy a day spent stationary? Yes, it's about 100. I think everyone and their mother's sister's cousin thinks that there are great views of Snow Creek Falls on the Snow Creek trail. Far from the truth. There are zero views of Snow Creek Falls from the trail. If you want to spy Snow Creek Falls you have to zig off the trail to spy a view. Couple of additional comments. Please work around any faux paux in spelling or sentence structure or whatnot. (I'm not re-editing to fix those) There is probably quite a bit more elevation gain and loss than what you think. I would say this may be too much for 2 days. If you go from the Campground and hit all the sights you should on that route (El Cap, Eagle Peak, Yose Falls overlook, Yose Pt. Overlook, North Dome, Indian Arch) then you are talking over 28 miles. I'll put some photos on Picasa soon. Bucketloads of snow still. Nearly 100% snow coverage let's just say at Beehive and beyond. Snow up to the roofline at Wilma Cabin. Just a note about this since it is coming up very soon: You should plan for nearly 100% snow coverage beyond Beehive. Plan for full snow coverage in Jack Main and expect all the lakes near any trail to be frozen. I believe there is 10ft. of snow at Wilma and about 6ft. at Vernon. It's probably too early to not take snowshoes... since the snow may not have consolidated enough yet... Thinby bill-e-g - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

If you want to hike in snow then take the Snow Creek Trail. This year can almost guarantee you will hit snow when coming around/over Indian Ridge. The North Rim will have little to no snow on it. It's south facing and loses quickly.
