Quotetomdisco Bee, I think the ranger is being a bit optimistic. Rick may repost recent history of Tioga Road openings. Early May seems like a long shot unless we get a quick snow melt and no late storms. Jim Just a bit. Anyone recall a previous thread about starting the Tioga Road plowing on 15 April (seemingly irregardless of actual weather/snow conditions)? Link to Tioga Roadby szalkowski - General Discussion

QuoteFrank Furter Well, there is plenty to do in East of Yosemite. Mono Lake is the nesting area for a huge population of gulls (?entire west coast gull population?) . Additionally (Bee, cover your eyes) The indians used to harvest fly larvae along the Mono Lake shore and dry as a food source (maggots for breakfast)! Civilized, crying how to be human again: this will tell you how. Turn outward, love things, not men, turn right away from humanity, Let that doll lie. Gossamer Gear is also a good domestic retail outlet for the closed-cell foam sleeping pads equivalent to what many of us knew as Ensolite pads. Gossamer calls it their ThinLight Pad. Mountain Equipment Co-Op (MEC) up in Canada also carries these pads (Evazote is the trade name for the material carried by both GG and MEC.)
