I heard from people that in some cultures it is customary to discard their toilet paper in trash cans to avoid clogging. But to leave it all on the floor is absolutely unsanitary. SInce I've already experienced this several times there, I'd rather live w/ the pit toilet @ Yosemite Creek if White Wolf is full.by quicksilver - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Hi, I have reservations at Hodgdon during Labor Day but am considering trying my chances at a walk-in campground such as White Wolf. Do you think I have a reasonable chance of getting a spot if I arrive Thursday by noon? I am reluctant on keeping my reservations because of the increasingly HORRID bathroom conditions I have experienced @ Hodgdon over the past 3 years. I am mostly a day hiker myself and North Dome/ Indian rock is one of my favorites. Mono pass views are ok - you can see Mono Lake once you exit NP boundaries heading towrd Upper Sardine. I personally like the route to Spillway better (same trailhead). Saddlebag Lake is a good hike to begin w/ b/c there is little elevation gain - I chose to go counterclockwise.by quicksilver - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Just wanted to share my experience with you at lower and middle/upper Gaylor Lake trails recently. Both were workouts to get to (wasn't yet acclimated to the elevation) but beautiful. My one complaint about Lower Gaylor was the mosquitoes, which was minimal along much of trail until you reach 1/2 mile from the lake and it became nearly unbearable with hundreds swarming and trying to bite whereverby quicksilver - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Hi. I'm new to this forum and have been reading lots of useful info. When I visited Saddlebag Lake during July 4th weekend, I recall the water being atleast several feet below the spillway but I am not sure what is normal for this time of year. The main loop trail still had some patches of snow between Helen and Steelhead Lakes.by quicksilver - General Discussion
