Falling Rock is not dangerous. He's just a lost Native American that has never been found. They put up a sign whereever someone thought they saw him. Watch for Falling Rocks. In the Valley anyway, I'm pretty sure the pines are encroaching on many parts of the meadow because of the blasting of the moraine by Bridalveil because that ended the spring floods that kept the ground too wet for pines to sprout, and South Side Drive changed the flow of water keeping the area north of it even drier.by Dave - General Discussion
If I have time tomorrow I'll list which ones I have. None are auto focus, or auto anything, so the lenses wouldn't be of any use on digital cameras. A quick look on Ebay came up with values of $50 to $75 for these kind of cameras. However.... I did see some Graflex 3X5 view cameras for less than $100. QuotetomdiscoI don't think there should be anything sacred about crossing it in designated locations. Not being a snowmobiler I don't know how many undisciplined drivers would be tempted to detour onto the PCT itself. That's probably the greater concern. That could be a concern, but is it that much of a concern? What damage would a snowmobile do to the trail that's under a few feet of snow? Mby Dave - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Is there something so sacred about the PCT that a snowmobile cannot cross it? Or is it something like a black cat crossing your path?by Dave - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Quotehikerchick395I wuz just curious... That lounge at Curry is nice...especially on quiet evening, in the middle of a big storm (like we experienced last winter.) Quotey_p_wWell - I actually sent it back to its maker after it bit me. I was joking with a ranger later that I just "killed some wildlife" in the form of a mosquito. He joked back that it was OK because I was "just putting a food source back into the environment". Those living in the park, or those that can only access their property through the park, get a sticker to put in the window that lets them in for free. Quotehotrod4x5And a million dollars in expenses JUST for those three campgrounds? Spent on what? Are you assuming that us park rangers work for free? Are you assuming there is no trash pick up? Quotehotrod4x5$24 is pretty high for a spot to park a car and pitch a tent in my book. Sure, if all you got was a patch of dirt along side the highway out in the middle of nowhere.
