Thanks again bill-e-g. Great pictures! I always enjoy the pictures you post. The trouble with Yosemite is that there are just too many Places that I want to hike/explore. People ask me why I go there so much and I tell them Yosemite is the Disneyland of hiking without the crowds as long as you stay off the main trails. I have so many places in Yosemite on my to do list I don't think I will get toby jimbo - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Once again THANKS! I really appreciate your input and posts bill-e-g. Your experience and knowledge of the Yosemite area is greatly appreciated. Yea, I saw the route you did along with the pictures. If I don't do the exact route I will definately do a major part of it. It looked great! Also I was thinking of going up to Cathedral Lakes area and maybe over Tresidder and catch the views above Tenaby jimbo - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

I can't believe the wealth of experience of hiking in Yosemite this site has! I will be in TM July 17 thru 25 and I am planning a lot of hikes. I like to get away from the trails a bit and last year went to Echo Peaks from Bud Lake Down to echo Lake and back thru Cathedral Lakes. I am in the process of planning my hikes. What I would like to do this year is maybe head to Elizabeth and up to theby jimbo - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Going east down Tioga Pass through Lee Vining Canyon a couple of miles from US395 there are a couple of forest service campgrounds. The one farthest east is the larger of the two. Even on a Saturday night I have always found a sight in there. $14 a night. No potable water in the campground. There is potable water off the side of the road a little further down. I stayed there Saturday night June 5by jimbo - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Thanks bill-e-g I do a lot of solo hiking and as I get older I realize I am not immortal anymore and I am looking for one that has the locator if I get in trouble and need help. Granted, with the trail system in Yosemite and with a map and compass it is hard to get to lost, but I do some cross country exploring and I've seen how you and others are able to map out your routes and show us the rby jimbo - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. hikerchick395, Must have passed you on Tioga Pass on June 5. I was towing a trailer ending my week in Yosemite Valley heading east. Had a great time! Waterfalls were awesome! Everywhere! I'm looking forward to my trip in late July at Tuolumne Meadows. Will only bring my truck camper this time since I will be traveling alone. No one wants to hike with me I guess. Just wanted to echo the thoughts of duncanmeyer. I have been reading the posts since the first of the year and have enjoyed the comments and humor of the other contributors. There is a lot of experienced Yosemite hikers contributing and I have gained a lot of useful information from them. I'm just a little bit jealous, it seems some of you either work in the park or live near enough to get thereby jimbo - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Yes it was on June 4 & 5. The water was almost coming over the bridge that goes to the backpackers camp. The rangers were telling people to park at Curry Village or some other legal place and come in from the backside. Thats the old road that used to go to Indian Caves(for those of us that remember Indian caves)that is a bike path now. Long way to hike in for just one night. Sites 400,401,402,403,501,503. Also those sites on the back road by the trail to the backpackers camp that are lettered that you can't reserve, I think they are overflow or something, there always seems to be people in them. The day I left (6-5) The park service was coming in with sand bags and a backhoe. If you are staying in any of those sites you might want to check first.by jimbo - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada.
