Quotechick-on Quoteryanmj is that ribbon falls? how was the trek? Yes. I did the trek in early February so I knew what we were getting into. The climbers trail stays in the woods the entire time and is imho really straightforward. With up to 2 ft. of snow it didn't make it any more difficult really and actually made it quite a bit of fun. This was due to the fact that it was all new snowby ryanmj - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Quotechick-on Uh... unfortunately if Badger Pass is no open... you cannot park overnight there either. Hetch Hetchy to Rancheria Falls is a trip that can be done year-round. Perhaps give Chilnualna a go? yea were open to any suggestions ill look into those two, could be anywhere in the sierras preferably yosemite or south of. I know we cant be too picky but we prefer a loop rather than outby ryanmj - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Yea if there is a big storm or to much snow on the ground we will plan on going somewhere else, renting snow shoes is an option. We dont have a real big problem with starting in the valley except that weve stayed there so much weve hiked almost everything there is starting from there and are looking for something new. Guess it would all be new to us covered in snow.. Ive been looking into a loopby ryanmj - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Planning a short back packing trip for the end of the January. About 30 miles over 4 days/3 nights. Weve got a few options planned that start along tioga road or glacier point road and end in the valley, assuming the roads are open also assuming you cant park over night on those roads which is why we are trying to end up in the valley. Cant find to many appealing routes that start in the valley aby ryanmj - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

QuoteOhnivy-Drak Most of the pitches on Snake Dike are the near the bottom, correct? And then there's one higher up, sort of like the route's Hillary Step, consisting of a shelf you need to climb over. I'm just trying to remember what a couple of family friends said about the route. Ignore my evaluations on climbing. It was just my impression that the Silver Apron is tougher. I believe itsby ryanmj - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

QuoteQITNL I'm not sure of the points you reference, but when you get there, the turn is pretty obvious. You wiggle up all the garbage until you hit the wall and the trail to Sierra Point takes a hard right. You go hard left to LeConte and can follow a faint use trail for a while. One other trick, at the base of the route to SP: after you turn off the freeway and clamber through the initialby ryanmj - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Quotechick-on Quoteryanmj the route is clear where it breaks off from sierra point, deffinetly has gotten use in the last few years but I dont know what the difficulty is. Are you saying you went up LeConte? And it was easy? Or what? no not yet, just ment that there is a clear path that breaks off from the sierra point trail that fits the decription for leConte Gullyby ryanmj - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. Quoteplawrence Thanks for the link to that 1940 Guide. Here's the one paragraph excerpt it has about Le Conte Gully (It rates it a Class 4 because of one 25' Class 4 pitch, the rest is just Class 2 rock scramble): the route is clear where it breaks off from sierra point, deffinetly has gotten use in the last few years but I dont know what the difficulty is.by ryanmj - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada.
