QuoteThe Other Tom Interesting. Post pandemic breakout perhaps? Or possibly people going before the day use permits start. In general, park visitation has increased the past few years in the "off" season.by parklover - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
We were in Yosemite from the 18th to the 27th and were really surprised with the number of people in the park for this time of the year. We have never seen this many people in years past at this time. Some schools have the week after Easter as spring break and we thought that this week the numbers of people would drop significantly but it really didn't. Didn't expect that all of the main pullby parklover - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

QuoteFatFlatlander At this point you have to wonder when, or even if, the High Sierra Camps will open again. I think in 2019 they said that, in addition to the impacts of heavy snowfall during the winter of 2018-2019, they were keeping the camps closed in order to do some maintenance work on them. I would hope/assume they do some sort of check on the camp equipment even during summers when thby parklover - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

Really nice trip report and pictures. We have stopped at Manzanar several times when we have driven to and from Lake Tahoe. One thing I hope they don't bring back is that traffic control pattern they had. Actually, it was a nightmare to get around the park since the shuttle was not running and people with issues with mobility, like I do, can't walk that far. With the increase in Covid, there is no way that I would get on a shuttle now. “Not all those who wander are lost.” – J.R.R. Tolkien. This one fits our family the best. Actually our family travel motto is: " On the way to the Grand Canyon, we stopped off in Maine to see the fall colors." Not that we actually have done that since we have never been to Maine but the fact that we love to take long driving trips and have been known to go off our route ifby parklover - General Discussion

Due to the high rates of Covid, the park had required a day use permit to limit the amount of people in the park. If you did not have reservations in the park for camping or lodging, a wilderness permit or reservations in Foresta, Yosemite West or Wawona, or took public transportation into the park, you had to get a day use permit.
