I always keep a large first aid/earthquake kit, that has almost everything in it that you can think of, in the car and I took out the compressed food packages out of it when I bought it. My favorite Yosemite memory was the first time I went in 1987 with my future husband and 10 friends. I will never forget that first hint of the view of the Valley that you get on the Turtleback turnoff before you get to the tunnel and then the awe of that view as you go out of the tunnel. Even now, after 80+ trips, it never fails to bring tears to my eyes. Our friends stayed in Upper Pines anby parklover - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

I have never used vitamin B1 for repellant so I can't comment on that. However, I take B complex and 400 mg B2 every morning for other reasons and since I started that, the mosquitoes tend to leave me alone. The only problem is that they are excreted in urine so after the B is eliminated from my body I will get attacked. Thanks, I have friends that have places in Yosemite West and they are not there right now to report what is going on. That area needs some fuel reduction but I hope that they keep it from becoming a wildfire. I just looked at the cams and it appears that the smoke is blowing towards the Valley. I have always wondered how people make it up trails in flip flops. I wear them around the pool but never would think of wearing them on a trail.
