Nice Photos! Especially like the Elizabeth Lake photo. Nelson looks to be shrinking quite a bit.by Torero14 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

Safe hiking! I'm jealous.by Torero14 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Was just there. I think the ridge you're referring to is Tuolumne Pass. Nice area and views. Posted a pic from there on a thread called Mamoth peak to Emeric Lake. I think the photos start at 9 from that area. Unless you mean off trail. Either way I think it's a good location and the photos should help a bit.by Torero14 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Started out on the Mono/Parker Pass TH and hiked the trail along Parker Pass Creek until a little ways before the trail split to Spillway Lake. Once we crossed Parker Pass Creek, we worked our way back to and along the creek that drains out of Kuna Lake, following it to the source. We enjoyed a snack at Kuna Lake before we continued our hike, climbing up to Mammoth Peak, and aloby Torero14 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

I don't have any information that would help you--but I would highly appreciate it if while you're out you could snap some photos for me! I'm looking for snow levels and conditions at Mammoth Peak (at least formerly known as), Kuna Crest, Donohue Peak, Mt. Lyell, Mt. Maclure, Bernice and Gallison Lakes, and Parson's Plateau. Planning on heading out on the 19th, which gives a bit more time for meby Torero14 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

Thank for the write-up and pictures! Love the photo of your camping spot (after having fun with the wind) and Chick-On's sunrise photo--especially the cloud.by Torero14 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra

I remember this portion of the trail being a bit of a hard climb. Will be much different climbing with a pack on, if you're not used to it. Take your time. It's a good place to stop and enjoy the views to the North. They get better as you climb higher.by Torero14 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Can't wait to see your pictures!!by Torero14 - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Thanks for clarifying what the picture is.... I don't really know how I missed that. When I took my wife up the cables I put her in a harness and had two daisy-chains. Doing the same thing you did at the transition, but we had to do it at every post. I went right behind her and clipped in, then unclipped. Didn't take long at all. Sure if she fell she would have slid down to the next post...bby Torero14 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
Thank for the report and the pictures. Ankle injury is one of my biggest fears while backpacking (missing some ligaments in my right ankle from an old injury). I'm glad that it wasn't too serious and that your son was able to hike out! I really like the photo from the top of HD I think looking between Moraine Dome and Cascade Cliffs?by Torero14 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
You did much more than Buena Vista based on your photos! Where else did you go?! Love the slideshow. Sunset pics are something else. Thanks for sharing.by Torero14 - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Nice Photo! Here are a few of mine. These were all taken with a Canon T2i, with a 300mm F4.5 Zoom-Nikkor ED Nikon Lens. It depends on what route you would want to take. Here is a photo of a map I have that includes some distances: If you take the route I have highlighted on the map below, I believe that the mileage would be about 53.6 miles. Edited Mileage. 53.6 is the distance of the highlighted area. Don't know where I got the 62. Sorry!by Torero14 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
I'm sure that Nikon does a great job refurbishing cameras. But is it worth the $20 or so dollars that you will save (assuming that the refurbished camera is only coming with the 18-55mm lens)? A quick google search will show that the Nikon D3100, new, can be purchased for $389. Example. If it were me, I would prefer a brand new product--unless you're getting an assortment of lenses (18-55 &amby Torero14 - Photography advice, critiques and tutorials

About a week ago there was some thick ice...very slippery about here. May be melted by now, but I know the other trail was free of ice. (Other trail). Not sure if Chick-on knows if it has all melted by now?by Torero14 - Backpacking and Hiking Yosemite and the Sierra
