Quoteyosemitenut Hey everyone, I'm planning a trip back to Yosemite, but unfortunately won't be able to make it until either late December or early January. I know if there is snow on the ground, a lot of the valley rim hikes are technically "closed," but are there lots of people who still take them? Is it feasible to get up Upper Yosemite to check out the snow cone at the bottom ofby grant1 - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
Great pictures.Thanks.Brings back memories, last time I was there was 1976.For those not minding missing the water late summer or fall is a fine time to visit.Lack of water allows you to get back to the deepest part of the amphitheater. From there, look straight up.You may want to sit down first.by grant1 - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. The cave under Upper Falls in winter.Spend the night in the cave then get up early morning and walk a safe distance away.Wait for the sun to hit the huge ice slabs that form overnight. When they come crashing down it gets very cold, very windy, and really noisy.A real treat.by grant1 - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada.
