Yesterday I visited one of my favorite spots in Yosemite, Wildcat falls. I hadn't been there since April and found the landscape dramatically changed. There are now two huge boulders In the pool at the base of the falls. And a lot of broken rock and debris. Anyone know when that might have happened? It looks very recent. ps. I stopped at the info center in Yosemite Village to ask them. When I meby Pohono - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion
I was there yesterday. Sadly the latest storm has blown off almost all the leaves from the Sugar Maple. It's done for this year. As for the rest, the colors are brilliant on the Wawona road right now from Chinquipin to the valley. The west end of the valley has yet to fully change. It's about 50% but leaves are dropping rapidly. The dogwoods are still in the "light pink" stage. Southsby Pohono - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

A while back, when the plans were being developed for the Merced River use, I was asked if I wanted the plans in printed form when available. I thought I could leisurely peruse them without having to sit in front of the computer reading the .pdf, so I said ok. These summaries were to be published and sent at no cost to those who wanted them. Well---- yesterday FED-EX rings my bell and leaves a pby Pohono - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion

We know that the NPS keeps lots of charts of data (i.e. a record of the opening dates for Tioga road, etc). Just as a matter of curiosity, does anyone know if there is a record of the dates when Yosemite falls stops flowing? I'm in the valley at least twice a month and see a bear about 50% of the time. Best site I ever saw was at Bridalveil fall. A juvenile male waited for cars to stop at south drive then went from zero to light speed in two steps. It was amazing how fast those guys can go.by Pohono - Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada.
