QuoteCalaverasAfter seeing the photo above of the guy hanging onto the slab, I know it's not for me.
Um, yeah. I was getting really excited about this "hike" until I saw that pic. Breath taking... just afraid it could be breath-taking... literally!

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion Quotetelfair aveThey will sacrifice the one extra individual by setting him on fire and throwing him off Glacier point.
No, not Glacier Point, its how they do the Fire Fall over on Yosemite Falls. (sorry, bad timing for 'over the falls' jokes, my bad)

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion A lady slipped and went into the water on the Mist Trail last May (2010) while I was on the Mist Trail just several hundred feet behind her (I do not believe she went over the fall, just into the river) We heard the story passed down the trail and thought it was a bad joke, until we saw the Rangers looking in the water.
Her body was not found until July 2010.

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion Cool! Here is my first bear pic! I've gotten some awesome pics, but I was hesitant to post them, as I didn't want to discourage others from posting! That's why I asked before posting. I have quite a few really good shots... the first is always the favorite, it was just a special moment.
On the way out of Yosemite we saw some people pointing at something, and one of the guys in my van jokin

Photography advice, critiques and tutorials OK, new to this forum, trying to post at the bottom, I give up, I can't figure that out. I'll just quit. Also can't find out how to delete a post, only edit. The box was at the bottom, but the post goes up in the middle of the page... I have a forum on my site, but the new posts always go at the bottom unless you hit reply to something in the middle of the page. Go figure.

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion Yeah, there is plenty of safe places and ways to enjoy the top of both Vernal and Nevada Falls, just go up a ways, sit and enjoy, just don't go in, and nowhere near the falls.
I just posted a pic via twitter of the sign at the top via Twitter: http://twitpic.com/5udwnm
The text is in my post about the whole thing: Yosemite Safe Despite Tragic Deaths
There are lots of pics there of Vernal

Yosemite and the Sierra Nevada. News & Discussion I've been lucky enuf to get a picture of a bear (or two) on every trip to Yosemite since 2008 ('09, '10, and just this week '11) I'd love to see other's pics of bears in Yosemite and am willing to post some of mine... but wanted to ask first if anyone else has bear pics? It's kinda my goal every year to get a bear picture since being attacked by a bear as a kid in Yosemite... now I "hunt&quo

General Discussion Yeah, I was there in Yosemite. (Fortunately, not at the top of Vernal Falls) It was not two trying to save one, tho some are now spinning it that way to be more positive about it. The two were out there in the water posing for a picture when one slipped and the other tried to help, and they both went in. So, yes, while the 2nd was trying to help, the 2nd was already out in the water where they sh
