General Discussion Sea...

Upon signing out for the day Telegraph Air Attack reported to Telegraph Operations the fire is doing "much better than yesterday".
He described how earlier in the day they successfully worked from the south then north. He acknowledged he couldn't see through the smoke to g

General Discussion I understand Yosemite Valley was without power last night. Has it been restored yet?

General Discussion I don't think the fire will be a threat to Yosemite but it could possibly result in Hwy 140 being closed. As for the smoke it's hard to say. We've been dealing with smoke for weeks. It just depends on the winds.
I'd say go ahead with your trip and see how it looks when you get to Yosemite.

General Discussion We prefer up 108 and back 4. If you have time be sure and stop by Big Trees on 4.

General Discussion Sonora Pass is my favorite. Fewer people and the scenery is great. More than once I've been on my way to Tioga and decided to turn on Hwy 108 instead. Be sure to stop at the LeavittFalls Overlook if you go that route.

General Discussion We drove from Tahoe to Lee Vining today. The lower gate on Tioga Road was closed and locked so we just hung a left onto the Poole Power Plant road and drove along Lee Vining Creek for aways. Stopped at a small turnout by a huge pine and walked down to the creek. We couldn't stay though because the wind was howling down the canyon, blowing branches out of the trees and such.
Both going and coming

General Discussion In past years Caltrans has almost always had the road open from the east all the way to the Tioga Pass entrance well before the plows break through from the west...even when the road report says otherwise.
If it doesn't snow, I'll probably head south on 395 Tuesday and check it out.
