Safe to leave tent ect at backcountry campsite?
August 02, 2006 10:59AM
My wife and I are planning on backpacking to Little Yosemite Valley for the night before climbing Half Dome the next day. I know there are no guarantees, but was wondering if the equipment will be relatively safe at the campsite while we are climbing up Half Dome.

Thanks for any help.

I've always done it and I've never had a problem. Just make sure it's bear safe.

eeek: Good point on the bears and thanks for the info that you have had no other problems. I'm not used to backpacking in high use areas like this, so your info gives me some peace of mind. I don't need to bring the expensive stuff anyway, but its nice to know that people leave stuff and don't worry much about theft.

Thanks again,

Ron

There is a ranger station at Little Yosemite Valley. You might want to speak to someone there if it'll make you feel better about leaving stuff went you day hike.
