Re: Woman missing below Vernal Fall bridge

YOSEMITE, Calif. (KCBS) -- Rangers at Yosemite National Park are appealing to the public for help in locating a woman last seen Monday afternoon below the Vernal Fall footbridge at the Merced River.

Katrin Lehmann is believed to have fallen into the river around 3:30 p.m.

The 31-year-old is 6’ tall, weighs 150 pounds, has brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing a maroon rain jacket, dark blue pants, a light green buttoned shirt, lightweight hiking boots, a light blue backpack and a dragonfly necklace.

Anyone with information can contact either the Yosemite Criminal Investigations Unit at (209) 372-0614 or the Yosemite Communication Center at (209) 379-1992.

i was just there this last weekend.. man! the water there was fast and powerful !!!

It was definitely raging this weekend. Here is the NPS flyer...

is it normal procedure to have a criminal investigation unit look into this? or do they suspect foul play?

here is Vernal Falls on May 16, 2009.. so you can see if she went over, she had little to no chance.

Yosemite National Park Rangers Search for Missing Woman

Yosemite National Park is seeking assistance in locating a missing woman who was last seen below the Vernal Fall footbridge at 3:30 p.m. on Monday, May 18, 2009. Katrin Lehmann, 31, 6' 0", 150 lbs. She has light brown hair and brown eyes. Lehmann was last seen wearing a maroon rain jacket, dark blue pants, light green button shirt, lightweight hiking boots, a light blue backpack, and a dragonfly necklace.

Ms. Lehmann was last seen when she fell into the Merced River below the Vernal Fall footbridge. If you have any information regarding this person, please contact the Yosemite Criminal Investigations Unit at (209)372-0614 or the Yosemite Communications Center, 24 hours per day, at (209)379-1992.

i haven't read any updates on her disappearance, have any of you?
