I did a while back try to figure out the "Table Lake" thing but gave up. I guess it's just a Yosemite myth or else just a running in-joke on this forum.

Table Lake is NO joke! It's just REALLY REALLY hard to get to!
It's just east of Pleasant Valley north of Pate Valley.

You need to get the 4 National Geographic Trails Illustrated maps that cover the hiking trails in Yosemite. That will show you a number of ways to get to Table Lake and many other rare sights we occasionally mention here. Once you see all those trails you will go bananas over all the possible places you would like to see more than once but may be lucky enough to see just once.
