DENVER—Investigators are trying to determine what caused a motorized glider to crash northeast of Mammoth Lakes in California, killing two people from Canon City, Colo.

Couple of comments:
1. apparently motorized gliders, like standard gliders, do not require a medical certificate for the pilot, and
2. they were on the leeward side of the Sierras, notorious for severe downdrafts.

The cure for a fallacious argument is a better argument, not the suppression of ideas.
