Yellowstone Coalition challenges wolf delisting

BOZEMAN, Mont. -- The Greater Yellowstone Coalition filed a formal complaint in U.S. District Court in Missoula, Mont., Wednesday, challenging the removal of gray wolves from Endangered Species Act protections in Idaho and Montana.
Delisting of wolves in Idaho and Montana became official May 4. Wolves remain protected under the Endangered Species Act in Wyoming.
The coalition says it supports eventual state management of wolves once adequate standards and safeguards are in place, but says delisting fails on several fronts.
By sidestepping the law, it fails to ensure thriving populations in the Northern Rockies and undermines efforts to find sound, science-based solutions to the wolf-management stalemate, the coaltion says in a news release........
