I personally doubt a gate fee increase will make any impact one way or the other.

I agree that it won't make much difference. Local people can get the annual pass. People coming from Europe or Asia, after having spent thousands of dollars to visit the US, are not going to be put off by having to spend an extra $5.00 per carload per week to get access to Yosemite.
