Restoration and conservation: Those are the goals that will guide management of the U.S. forest system under the Obama administration, Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack said in his first major policy address on the nation's forests. "It is time for a change in the way we view and manage America's forestlands with an eye towards the future," he told a crowd gathered at Seattle's Seward Park.

Makes sense to me. Time to move on and start using our forests responsibly. I like the fact that he's including private owners. Since they're the ones owning the land, they are key to the future of our forests. If we can work with them and create jobs then we're doing the right thing. Enough with the fighting. A forest that is left to burn because everyone is in court and can't figure out how to get along so they can cut diseased trees, etc. is a sad thing.
