WAIAU, New Zealand, Oct. 22 (UPI) -- A New Zealand town has canceled its annual dead rabbit-tossing contest for children following protests from animal welfare advocates.
The "Rabbit Throw" has been a tradition in the town of Waiau, which has a population of about 400 people, for years, but town officials said this year's event has been dropped, the Australian Broadcasting Corp. reported Thursday......

About dang time. Can humans get any more gruesome and unethical? (Don't answer that!)

I'm only 5-7...toss me! LOL

This "sport" would appear to sidestep the need to process the hides for use as ball coverings.
(It also sounds about as entertaining as baseball and football.)

Have you ever eaten rabbit? It's very yummy lean meat. Tastes like chicken, of course. Good stuff.
