My First Trip to Yosemite
May 23, 2007 02:34PM
I have just returned from visiting Yosemite for the first time.
What a beautiful park!
My favorite views were from Glacier Point Road and Taft Point. Thank goodness that the road had opened before we arrived. The views were amazing! We were out on Taft Point for over an hour all by ourselves - it was almost magical. Sitting up there looking at El Capitan and the water falls and being able to hear the water falls. Wow! What an experience!
The next day we hiked the Mist Trail. I will admit that the granite steps are really tough on the heart!! The trail was great fun and very beautiful.
Then sitting in the meadow late in the afternoon counting rock climbers on El Capitan hanging on the face for the night!!Unbelievable!
Thanks for all the info all of you gave me - I had a great trip! I will return one day.
I would love to post some photos - is there a certain size they have to be?
Or a certain method I need to follow?

Walk tall as the trees
Live strong as the mountains
Be gentle as the spring winds
Keep the warmth of the summer sun in your heart
And the great spirit will always be with you

They have to be hosted somewhere else. I don't believe this message board software accepts attachments. The inclusion of photos seems to be standard message board codes as follows.

Here's the URL for my photo of a bear track that I took last Feb near Camp 4 (hosted by ImageShack):

Here's the photo linked into this message with standard codes:

The code looks like this, except for the lack of spaces between the brackets:

If you post them to http://yosemitephotos.net/, they'll be sized and you can link to them here as well.

Penny, I'm glad you had a great trip. Hiking at high altitude can be tough, you are right about that! Other options for photos - If you have a Yahoo account (or want to open one), you can upload photos to Yahoo photos or Flickr.

http://photos.yahoo.com

If you upload to Flickr, you should resize your pictures before uploading because they have a limit on how much bandwidth you can use per month with the free account.

I think Yahoo photos resizes the photos for you.

You can also upload to http://yosemitephotos.net/. It's free and (at least so far) has no bandwidth limits.

You need to get the url of the image itself. That url is for the page the image is on.

"Right click" over the image where it says "view image" (at least in Firefox) to see the URL or "copy image location" (to save the URL directly). The direct photo link is here (seems strange but it works):

Okay - I got a couple of photos onto yosemitephotos.net and I found the url of one of them (below) but not sure how to insert the actual photo.
Maybe you can click on this and see the photo????

Put [ img] infront of the url and [ /img] at the end of the url with no spaces on either end. Don't put the space after the bracket. It has to be in this post so the code will print.
