SANTA CRUZ — A luxury home developer faces felony charges after allegedly cutting down 49 trees on his neighbors' property without permission, giving his new ridgetop "chateau" an unobstructed view of the Monterey Bay coastline.

Come over here and clear the other apartments out of this complex so I can see the mountains. DUH
One would think a developer would be familiar with the part of CA real estate law that specifically states a landowner does not have view right across the land of another. Your view rights extend only in one direction,--straight up.
Reminds me of the 2007 case of a woman owning a house in Incline Village, NV. Apparently to get a better view of Lake Tahoe, she had a contractor cut down several trees on a lot owned by the Forest Service. These trees were mostly over 100 years old and maintained to reduce runoff that might reduce lake water clarity.

I believe she finally settled without serving jail time.
