Zion National Park is pleased to announce the selection of Dennis Farris as the Artist-in-Residence for the February 2010 session. A landscape painter, Farris currently resides in Texas pursuing his career as a freelance illustrator. His experiences as Artist-in-Residence in Zion can be followed on his blog at farrisart.com/blog.

The Artist-in-Residence Program invites professional artists to apply for a four-week residency in Zion National Park. Selected artists have the opportunity to pursue their particular art form while surrounded by the inspiring landscape of the park. Zion will begin accepting applications for the next residency session beginning in June 2010.

The Artist-in-Residence Program is supported by Zion National Park, in partnership with Zion Natural History Association and Southern Utah University’s College of Performing and Visual Arts. Artists are selected by a jury made up of staff from Zion National Park, faculty from Southern Utah University’s College of Performing and Visual Arts, and staff from the Braithewaite Fine Arts Gallery. Selections are made based on the merit of an applicant’s work and how the work can advance the mission of Zion National Park and the National Park Service.

More information can be found at www.nps.gov/zion, and interested artists can contact the Artist-in-Residence Coordinator at Zion_Artist_in_Residence@nps.gov.
