...ANOTHER LATE SEASON SNOWFALL FOR THE SIERRA...

A COLD LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM WILL DROP OUT OF THE GULF OF ALASKA
TOMORROW AND BRING ANOTHER ROUND OF WINTER WEATHER TO EASTERN
CALIFORNIA AND WESTERN NEVADA LATE WEDNESDAY THROUGH THURSDAY.

SNOW WILL BEGIN FALLING OVER THE SIERRA FROM LAKE TAHOE NORTHWARD
LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT AND CONTINUE THROUGH THE DAY ON THURSDAY.
SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 12 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE ABOVE 7000 FEET
WITH 4 TO 8 INCHES POSSIBLE AT LAKE LEVEL.

FOR THE SIERRA SOUTH OF LAKE TAHOE...INCLUDING MONO COUNTY...SNOW
WILL BEGIN FALLING ALONG THE SIERRA CREST EARLY THURSDAY MORNING AND
TAPER OFF TO SNOW SHOWERS ON THURSDAY EVENING. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS
OF 6 TO 12 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE ALONG THE SIERRA CREST ABOVE 8000
FEET.

FOR WESTERN NEVADA...PRECIPITATION WILL BEGIN AS RAIN ON THURSDAY.
SNOW LEVELS WILL LOWER ON THURSDAY AND REACH MOST VALLEY FLOORS
BY THURSDAY EVENING. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS IN WESTERN NEVADA WILL BE
LIGHT AND CONFINED TO AREAS ABOVE 5500 FEET.</HTML>

RAIN AND SNOW WERE SPREADING THROUGH THE AREA IN THE LATE EVENING. SNOW LEVELS INITIALLY AROUND 6000 FEET WILL DROP OVERNIGHT AND THURSDAY MORNING TO BELOW 5000 FEET. THE SNOW WILL INCREASE EARLY THURSDAY MORNING AND CONTINUE FOR MUCH OF THE DAY ON THURSDAY. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 12 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE ABOVE 5500 FEET BY THURSDAY EVENING. ACCUMULATIONS OF 3 TO 6 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE BELOW 5500 FEET...AND 1 TO 3 INCHES OF SNOW WILL FALL IN THE LOWER EASTERN VALLEYS. ANOTHER STORM WILL MOVE IN ON FRIDAY AND COULD BRING AN ADDITIONAL 8 TO 14 INCHES ABOVE 5500 FEET.

ROADS WILL BECOME SLIPPERY AND AREAS OF BLOWING SNOW WILL MAKE TRAVEL ESPECIALLY DIFFICULT AT HIGHER ELEVATIONS. PEOPLE PLANNING OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES TONIGHT THROUGH THURSDAY WILL NEED TO BE PREPARED FOR WINTER CONDITIONS. ALLOW EXTRA TIME TO REACH YOUR DESTINATION.

SNOW IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN AROUND MIDNIGHT ALONG SIERRA NEVADA CREST AND THEN SPREAD THROUGH THE LAKE TAHOE BASIN EARLY THURSDAY MORNING. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 12 INCHES ARE EXPECTED ABOVE 7000 FEET BY LATE THURSDAY. ACCUMULATIONS OF 4 TO 8 INCHES ARE POSSIBLE BELOW 7000 FEET.

BE READY FOR WINTER DRIVING CONDITIONS IN AND AROUND THE LAKE TAHOE AREA. SNOW WILL MEAN SLIPPERY ROADS AND GUSTY WINDS COULD BRING BLOWING SNOW AND VERY LOW VISIBILITY TO MOUNTAIN PASSES. CHECK ROAD CONDITIONS BEFORE HEADING OUT AND ALLOW EXTRA TIME TO REACH YOUR
DESTINATION.

SNOW IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN LATE TONIGHT ALONG THE SIERRA AND WILL BECOME HEAVY AT TIMES THURSDAY IN THE EASTERN SIERRA ABOVE 7000 FEET. SNOW ACCUMULATIONS OF 6 TO 12 INCHES OF SNOW ARE EXPECTED DURING THE DAY.

PEOPLE PLANNING OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES IN WESTERN MONO COUNTY THURSDAY SHOULD BE READY FOR WINTER WEATHER. PASSES ON HIGHWAY 395 WILL BE
AFFECTED BY THIS. AREAS OF BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW ARE POSSIBLE IN EXPOSED AREAS.
